Frequently Asked Questions

What is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup (PMU) is a form of semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo done by a machine implanting pigment into the dermis of the skin to create a makeup effect. Tiny, sterile, single-use needles are used in a variety of techniques to either create hair strokes or powder effects.

How long does PMU last on the skin?

Modern permanent makeup has actually changed over the years and is now semi-permanent. It typically lasts 1-3 years, and a refreshing touch-up is required 8 weeks post the first session. Annual refreshers are recommended if you wish for a defined look.

Microblading VS Nano Brows?

We now offer nano instead of microblading as it doesn't build up scar tissue and is good for all skin types: as microblading was only recommended for dry-skin clients. We see it lasts longer in the skin and it heals crisp and naturally. It’s a no-brainer for us and our clients.

Does it hurt?

This all depends on yourself and your pain tolerance. Numbing cream is applied before the procedure and numbing gel is reapplied throughout. Most clients experience slight discomfort and very few experience pain.

How long is the healing process?

Usually, for permanent makeup and microblading there’s a 10-day period of scabbing and skin exfoliating. Depending on your skin type you might get more scabs than others, once the skin exfoliates it starts looking more natural you’ll see your final result 4 weeks after scabbing.

I have a special event coming up, how much time should I plan ahead of time?

Ideally, You should start your first treatment 2 months in advance. This will give us enough time for touch-ups and proper healing. If you are not able to get it done that far in advance a month would work as well!

Can I choose the sketch and color?

Before we start the session. We will discuss with you your goals. We will use several methods to measure and map out a shape that works with your features. You will have the chance to make any changes you want until you are happy with our sketch. Color will be chosen to match your natural hair. We normally start out light and darken at the touch-up if needed.

How can I prepare for my appointment?

Avoid alcoholic beverages 24 hours before your appointment. As well as aspirin and coffee the day of your appointment as this thins your blood. Refer to our pre-care instructions for specifics depending on the procedure.

Who is not suitable for permanent makeup?

If you are pregnant, have keloids prompt, or currently undergoing chemotherapy you are not suitable for permanent makeup. Please wait until you are no longer pregnant or nursing to book an appointment. If you are unsure of a medical condition or medication ask your doctor for clearance.

Can PMU cover up a scar?

Most of the time it is great for covering up scars as long as they are healed! Please send me a photo if you have a scar you are hoping to cover.
